  Safety Plan

We are dedicated to the safety of our clients. In fact, it is our top priority to make sure that all clients enjoy a safe and memorable experience in the High Sierras. We, at HSA, have compiled a list of common and potential safety issues and have made necessary precautions to avoid hazards outlined in this safety plan. Your guide will overview these safety issues during group orientation and will be the active leader in trip safety and also in emergency medical situations, should they arise.

  Dietary Request Policy

We take pride in the meals that we prepare. We will conform to any dietary requirements that you may have (such as being a vegetarian or being allergic to certain foods). Please note this information on the online registration form so that we can accommodate your needs.

  Environmental Consideration

All lead guides for High Sierra Adventures, LLC are certified Leave No Trace Instructors and will teach and implement such principles on the trip in order to promote the preservation of our nation's great wilderness. The seven principles of Leave No Trace are:

  1. Plan Ahead and Prepare
  2. Dispose of Waste Properly (Pack it in, Pack it OUT) (including trash, food scraps, etc)
  3. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
  4. Respect Wildlife (do not feed animals (intentional or not; they become dependent on humans))
  5. Leave What You Find
  6. Minimize Fire Impacts
  7. Be Considerate of Others

  Weather Policy

In case of severe weather, your trip could be cancelled. In this situation, you will be refunded full trip cost including the $350 deposit. High Sierra Adventures, LLC is not liable for any resultant flight cancellations.

  Evacuation Policy

High Sierra Adventures is dedicated to the safety of our clientele. We take every possible step and precautionary measure to avoid medical emergencies. However, some things are beyond our control.
If someone has a medical emergency that requires evacuation, there are several options that should be available for consideration. Depending on the diagnosis, situation, location, and well-being of the group, the head guide will make an educated decision on the safest method of evacuation. In most cases, the injured client will be escorted back to the trail head by a guide and/or pack mules while the remainder of the group continues on the trail. However, it may be necessary for the entire group to evacuate if the mechanism of injury is severe enough or if the group's safety has been jeopardized. If the entire group has to evacuate and thereby not complete the expedition as intended, all group members will be rewarded a 50% discount on any trip booked with High Sierra Adventures, LLC in the future.

  Authorized Special Use Policy

High Sierra Adventures, LLC operates under permits from Yosemite National Park, the United States Forest Service, Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park. We feel this policy adds to the overall safety of our trips and helps support the agencies that manage these national treasures. We work as a team with these agencies in preserving these great lands for our enjoyment and the future.

  Cancellation Policy

High Sierra Adventures, LLC requires that you pay a non-refundable deposit of $350 to reserve a spot on any of the trips that we offer. Cancellations made 30 days or more prior to trip departure receive a full refund, less the deposit. Cancellations made 30-5 days prior to trip departure receive a 50% refund less the deposit. There are no refunds for cancellations made 0-5 days prior to trip departure, or after the trip has begun.
