Yosemite National Park has been a symbol of the majestic American west ever since it was discovered in the mid-1800's. Yosemite Valley is the most well-known feature of the Park and is the most popular example of a glacier-carved canyon. The picture to the left demonstrates how the ancient glacier carved a U-shaped canyon where the Merced River now flows. The creeping icy glacier slowly tore sheets of weaker granite from the surrounding mountains, now called El Capitan (left) and The Cathedrals / Bridalveil Falls (right). No where else on earth will you find 3000 ft. sheer granite cliffs lined up for miles like in Yosemite Valley. This is truly an amazing and inspirational place. On this trip, we'll be hiking from the Ansel Adams Wilderness immediately south of Yosemite and make our way to a beautiful chain of alpine lakes like no other in the Park. It's the best way to engulf yourself in Yosemite with a limited amount of time. We'll experience the heart of Yosemite wilderness and feel the impact of the Sierra high country. We'll also have the chance to summit a 10,000 foot peak from base camp and view Yosemite from what seems like the top of the world.
